Canadian DUers, I hate to even ask, but...
My wife's freeper Canadian (didn't even know you had them up there. ;) ) insists you used to be able to get boob jobs in Canada and welfare would pay for it. Is there any truth to this? This woman is such a tool.

1. Total bullshit...
There are very clear rules about what's covered by MSI (Canadian Medicare) and cosmetic surgery is NOT one of them. Now, if you needed smaller breasts to cure a serious spinal condition, that probably would be covered as medically necessary.

Mind you, I've only been here 14 years, so conceivably it was covered at one time, but I truly doubt it.

2. Not Canadian, but ...
as I understand it, they're only covered in the event of reconstructive surgery after mastectomy.

As a cosmetic enhancement citizens are on their own.

3. Reductions are covered.
Even if there are no "heavy-bosom related problems"
a Dr will usually write it up as a medical necessity. Maybe it varies by doctor and province?

I've had 2 friends get reduction surgery. Afterwards one always had the feeling she was forgetting something every time she left the house. :-)

4. it was pretty liberal....
ohip (ontario medicare) even paid for sex change surgery; and if doctor ordered it, 'boob' jobs no problem. The savings in the canadian med system is in PAPERWORK, privitizing system means vast sums of money tracking everything, in 'triplicate'....
consider also the relative few people who need srs or other such cosmetic surgery......transvestites could claim disability because , well what are they suppose to do? same with tiny breasts; girls could claim that wasn't good for mental health etc......in the canadian med system it was truly between doctor and patient. if a private system truly was better, it would sell itself and the corporate guys no need to SELL IT! again, the savings, estimated at 2/3 of total cost, was paperwork, which canadian system simply eliminated right off. despite this, the public system cannot survive much longer, because NO ONE loves the public anymore, it seems....
i recall the night reagan was elected, i was up northern british columbia among crowd, including US draft resisters who'd taken roots up there....the first thing anyone said when TV announced Reagan next prez was "Ohoh, there goes OHIP!"
lol

5. My sister had to wait two and a half years
but she was like a triple ZZZ. Had grooves in her shoulders about an inch deep. And it was covered by the medical system. Now she has normal boobs - a C cup.
