My dogs got skunked!

On my bike ride just now... they never learn. I know - tomato juice, but I'm not going that route. They'll just have to spend their time outside for a couple days. I guess that's what they mean by 'in the doghouse'.

2. disposable douches work

better than tomato juice. The only problem is the embarrassment of buying a whole case of 'em.

I keep two quarts of tomato juice in the pantry in case of a skunk spray of my dogs.

5. try this

1 quart hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
small squirt dish soap

mix just before use

pour on, let sit for as long as the dog can hold still then rinse off.

repeat if necessary.

12. protect your dog's eyes

make sure you don't get the peroxide mixture in your dog's eyes ... if you do, have plenty of water on hand to flush it out ...

someone on the following thread recommended using Woolite by itself ... then just rinse off ...

7. I had three dogs skunked....

Vinegar and water sprayed on (spray bottle like you use for spraying plants). 1 cup per liter ought to do the trick. Spray them real good and leave them outside for a few days.

10. Hydrogen Peroxide and shampoo

did wonders for our dog. Forget about that tomato juice.

Don't just leave them outside - dogs depend so much on their sense of smell, it's like leaving a human blinded.

11. When I was a kid we had a pure white Husky...

that got skunked. We did the tomato juice routine and had the prettiest pink Husky for a few days afterwards.
