Got John Lennon Legends (DVD) on tonight
Why did all my favorite leaders of the 60's have to be killed by senseless violence?

I miss John. We could sure use him today...

4. this whole DVD has me a little teary eyed
alot of images of John. Protests, Yoko, animations, walks in Central Park. The video for "Mother" is pretty sad. "Borrowed Time" makes me smile. "Working Class Hero" hits you in the gut.

Its a great tribute to John.

6. Working Class Hero / J. Lennon
As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty-odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they're telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

12. I am with you
but we have to escape every now and then from the anger and hypocrisy. John spent his life teaching and showing love. That's what we have to hang on to while we react to the insane world we seem to be living in now.

10. Ever hear Cyndi Lauper's version?
From the concert celebrating the 10th anniversary of his death. Incredible version of a masterful song. No comparison to the original, of course.

15. POWER TO THE PEOPLE
Power To The People
John Lennon

Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people right on

Say you want a revolution
We'd better get it on right away
Well let's get on your feet
And into the street, singing:

Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people right on

A million workers working for nothing
You better give them what they really own
We gotta put you down
When we come into town, singing:

Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people right on (repeat and fade)

I gotta ask you comrades and brothers
How do you treat your old woman back home?
She's gotta be herself
So she can free herself, singing:

Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people right on

Oh well, power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people right on

Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people
Power to the people right on

Power to the people
Oh well, power to the people
Power to the people right on

16. Can it really be almost 25 years?
Sometimes it DOES seem like a lifetime ago. With all the problems, the 60's still had something else that's woefully missing today-hope. John and the boys made us think and smile (and sometimes dance). What a blessing.
