I am an ardent fan of Deadwood. It is an exquisite irony in the timing of this show and the FCC/Repuke so-called "defenders of values" crusade to keep America what it never was.

I kept thinking what it would have been like watching Hopalong Cassidy, Gene Autry, and Roy Rogers shows with the same language. My mother probably would let me since I was about 5 when those shows played.

7. I wasn't that taken with Deadwood at first

but now I'm hooked. Lots of interesting characters. The West has been mythologized so much by writers and Hollywood that Westerns had become absurd. Deadwood has revitalized the West with gritty people and a peek into a fascinating time in our country's history. Just a shame that Keith Carradine made such an early exit...I've always been a fan.
