Official Spurs/Lakers Game 5 thread !!!

Official for this Spurs fan at least. Exactly one year ago today, Robert Horry missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer that would have won a Game 5 For the Lakers. The Spurs wrapped up that series in the the next game at L.A. on their way to the Championship. I expect another close game and IMO the winner of this game will take the series. The Spurs have a 17 game home winning streak going.

I really wish Popovich would use Kevin Willis more on Shaq. If He manages to get the ball down low - he's gonna score and my Spurs have gotta stop that. I say use all of WIllis 6 fouls to front him and foul Shaq when he gets down low. The Spurs will need good performances from Parker, Ginobili and Turkoglu.

Reminded me of a Lakers' playoff game in 1986. Lakers were defending champs. We had a line on tickets to ALL the Lakers' home playoff games, been to all of them so far.

Western Semis vs Houston. The Rockets had three wins already but the Lakers had clawed back to tie the game with <1 sec to go. We just KNEW our Lakers would roll in OT and send the series back to Houston. Houston calls time out the set up the final "futile" play. My buddy, smart guy, decides to go down and use the mens' room before OT starts.

Houston throws a lob high towards Ralph Sampson...he bats at it and it it goes in - Rockets win the series.

The Forum empties in seconds. My buddy comes back - "What happened?"

I don't recall what I said but I'm sure my reply was rather profane.

that was back in the day of the tape delayed games. I was watching that over at my friend's place, and when Sampson made that turn-around, we both screamed! It scared the hell out of my friend's mom.

That was also the year that Jerry Sichting baited Sampson into taking a swing, and getting ejected. I remember Ralph telling the reporter in the tunnel "THAT WAS BULLSHIT" on live TV.

The Western Conference has given us some pretty good games this past week.

I can't say I care too much about who wins, but I hate to see San Antonio lose that way. At least if the Lakers won, they would have been at home for Game 6. The Spurs need to come up with a great effort on Saturday to stay alive.
