What song has the best "Get Up And Boogie" beat?
Today I'm going with "Boogie Fever" by the Sylvers.

30. Not to split hairs, but "Brick House" is a Funk beat, not a Boogie beat.
As much as I love the Commodores, and "Brick House" specifically, that song is a Funk Song.

Funk songs have the accent "on the 1". Best examples are "Fire" by the Ohio Players or most of James Brown's catalogue.

Boogie songs have the accents "on the 2 and the 4". Best example..."Shining Star" by Earth Wind & Fire

A lot of disco was boogie.

Not trying to start nothin', just trying to keep the genres straight.

36. Not to split hairs....
But you put "Get up and Boogie" beat in quotes, as if to imply that you were necessarily looking for a strict genre, but rather music that makes people want to get up and dance.

:P

I was down in New Orleans a few weeks ago and saw some great funk. Check out The Benjy Davis Project and Papa Grows Funk when you get a chance. Also Leo Nocentelli's new stuff is amazing. He is out in San Fran now.
