Finally hit 6000 posts

Took me long enough. I was at 5850 last month, and just today got to 6000.

Just wanted to give everybody a major thanks on being here. I may not know everybody personally, but I thoroughly enjoy being able to log on at any time of the day and have a conversation. Sometimes it's silly (as in the Lounge), and often very heated (GD). Still, it's been a great 8 months since I started participating regularly at DU. I had the honor of serving as a moderator even while I was still a relative newbie with 300 posts. Over the months, logging onto DU every morning became part of my daily schedule. Even if I didn't have the time and energy to craft posts, I received much enjoyment listening to what my fellow DU'ers thought on a wide range of issues.

I've had the privilege of meeting a few of my fellow Floridians. JanMichael,Shakeydave,Jen6,TRoosevelt,Trumad,Sunscreened,and KG just to name a few. I even had the honor of introducing a good friend to DU, and watched him become a regular poster on the site. I have communicated with countless others via AIM or PM. It's nice to be able to have people to chat with when you go online. Never really had that until DU. It is my great hope to be able to meet, in person or online, more DU'ers in the future.

DU has inspired me to become more politically involveed. I had never thought that I'd be volunteering for a Presidential candidate. Even though I support Dean currently, I plan to spend the same efforts on whichever candidate survives the primaries. Most likely, I will be a delegate for the Florida State Convention in December. I'm applying to join my local Democratic Executive Committee. Seeing everybody's political activism on DU makes me want to do better. I feel much pride seeing DU'ers like AWD and JanMichael succeed to the extend that they already have.

Once again, I just want to wish everybody on this great a major thank you. It's been a pleasure these past few months and I hope to be here as long as DU is in existence.
