I have friends here at DU, and although I am bothered by some of the posts regarding the Berg tape (as I am bothered by the Berg tape itself), I am not going to let that run me off.

7. A funny phenomenon that...

I've seen people do that on other boards. I just don't understand. Why announce that you're leaving? If you don't like the site, there are millions of others. Strange to me that people get sentimental about the "old times" which really aren't that old, now are they? I think this is a fine site. I hardly ever even visit the site I was on daily for over a year, because I like this one more. And I didn't announce that I was leaving the other site, even though some things there irritated the crap out of me... like disruptors who were allowed to stay and interject their crap into every thread.

I'm with you, man. I'm staying. And if I ever leave, you can bet I won't be announcing it. :)

I've been here for almost a year now. A while back we had a cicada plague of repubs, or freeps, or whoever they were. They were really terrorizing the place. Now it's calmed down.

I believe we have over 37,000 members here. That's a powerful force to be recokoned with. Plus, you can't beat the news here.

20. I'm sticking around

I found DU shortly after the selection -ahh the good old days when we only had a stolen election to rant about-. I was pretty much drifting the Internet for a new forum to lurk and occasionally post. During the impeachment years I hung around a place called TurnLeft, run by Mike Silverman his blog. TurnLeft was a raucous forum without much moderation. As is with most places, when the repugs showed up unchecked the pollution level incresed and TL finally bit the dust.

I'm not sure how I found DU, most likely a google search, but I found DU and Bart cop about the same time. For what ever reason, I gravitated towards DU. One night I decided what the hell, being leery on on-line registration, registered and posted a few times.

OK, DU has changed, but so has everything else, I long for the good ole days when we rehashed the selection, but we're here now. This is going to be a tough summer for DU'ers, after all collectively we know everything, and we know the need for change.

So I'm going to hang around and continue to learn from, laugh at, cry with DU, and next January we all are going to party!
