1960 - ABC-TV aired a Frank Sinatra special in which "Old Blue Eyes" and Elvis Presley traded hits. Elvis performed "Witchcraft," and Sinatra crooned "Love Me Tender." 1963 - Bob Dylan cancelled an appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show" after CBS censors refused to allow him to perform the controversial folk song "Talking John Birch Society Blues."
1968 - Jimi Hendrix was arrested for possession of hashish and heroin as he crossed the Canadian border for a concert in Toronto. The singer claimed the drugs were planted, and he was later cleared of all charges. 1971 - Mick Jagger married Bianca Perez Morena de Macias in St. Tropez, France. The wedding guests included the other members of the Rolling Stones, along with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton and Stephen Stills. 1975 - The Jefferson Starship gave a free concert in New York's Central Park for 60,000 fans. The band and concert sponsor, WNEW-FM, wound up having to pay the city $14,000 to repair damage done by the audience to the park.
1979 - The new Jefferson Starship lineup, featuring lead singer Mickey Thomas, made their debut at a free concert in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.
