Mrs D (from Chicago): "How much did you pay for that shit?"

DemoTex (in NC): "$2.50 a 50# bag."

Mrs D : "I hope it's some good shit!"

DemoTex: "It's good shit. The dealer told me so."

Actually my dad, a retired Entomology professor with a specialty in horticulture, recommended "Black-Kow." Dad, at near-84, still has one of the most beautiful, prolific vegetable gardens in central Georgia.

That is thick shit. I'll use about a pound per square foot because it is fairly rich, well-tested soil.

I have been using peat moss/sand/compost to break up the clay in my yard... egads...the clay is bad here in PA...naturally we grow shale, coal and other assorted rocks....it takes a lot of work to make a large garden grow in our area...
