1. LOL!
This is actually evidence more than anything else that IQs are socially conditioned and that Bush vs Gore was a cultural divide as much as a political one.

But it's nice to be able to just take things at face value and say we're smarter.

3. Sorry, out of date stats.
I moved back to Alabama and personally raised the average to 127.

5. The frightening part...............
Only 18 of 50 states have an average or above average IQ among the general populace.

So if I do my math correctly, that means that 32 states are inhabited by people who generally have a lower than average IQ.

Yikes!!

7. But, Population Density Will Likely Show. . .
. . .that the people are 50% above and 50% below. Lots of those states near the top are very highly populated. Lots near the bottom are not densely populated.

Once again, calling into question, the validity of the red state/blue state map. When the Grand Tetons have an IQ above 100 and can vote, the map will be meaningful.

In the meantime, we have even more reason to question the wisdom of the electoral college.

10. Thanks for clearing that up, Professor...
And, believe it or not, that had occured to me.

On the other hand, it means that 64 out of 100 Senators were elected by states with below average IQ's.

Whatcha got to say about that that will make me feel better? ;-)

11. I Wasn't Trying To Make You Feel Better
I was clarifying a statistical snippet. I was actually complaining about the inequity of the electoral system, using these data as justification.

I was trying to make myself feel better via cathartic complaining. If it bums you out too, good. We'll be bummed out together. I hate to be depressed alone!

8. But that's not so bad as it would seem, since the 18 have

probably half the US population: the top 18 have California, New York, Massachussetts, Maryland, PA, and some other highly populated states.

So, on a purely population basis, it might even out to half the population above average, half below.

But I also find it interesting that the larger states, and NE states, tend towards higher IQ.

And all that said with the assumption that this chart is actually accurate, and not just a bunch of made up crap or urban legend BS.
