Anyone heard the singer Hayley Westenra? You will.

I heard a piece on her this morning on NPR. She's a young singer from New Zealand (17 years old) and is somewhat in the mold of Charlotte Church. Some of the stuff they played was a bit schmaltzy but this young lady can sing. They played a bit of "Amazing Grace" an opera aria and a Maori love song. Watch out for her--I predict she's going to hit it big in this country. She's already gone platinum overseas.

3. The Charlotte Church comparison came to me too.

I heard the NPR piece on my way to work. Hayley said she didn't have any formal training, and a teacher told her she had perfect pitch, which is all well and good, but she still has a *girl's* voice. I prefer a *woman's* voice for singing some of the lusher operatic pieces. Time will take care of that though for certain.
