2. I liked his song Bucky best
I think it was called "save a butterfly for my buck"

I have not been able to find a copy of this song since I was a small child. But I can almost remember it word for word sometimes.

Puts a lump in my throat every time I listen to him. He's great.

3. The single most horrid song ever made.
If you are aged, you may remember the Smothers Brothers Comedey Hour skit where Tommy is the husband who has turned his home into a Honey museum tour.

"This is the tree that honey planted"

7. You get an amen from me on that one
Watching Scottie Grow is the only thig that comes to mind as being even more morbidly sappy than Honey.

9. "Straight Life" is also up there with Goldsboro's best
Edited on Wed May-12-04 07:28 AM by Enraged_Ape
"Sometimes my thoughts may find me in Mexico
Drinking tequila goin' out of my mind
Having a ball on a couple of bob
Treating the ladies to corn on the cob
Leaving the straight life behind..."

Wow, buying strange women corn on the cob! This man's just out of control!!

12. Suddenly all my silly thoughts disappear
She comes to me softly with crackers and beer
Winkin' and blinkin' and blow in my ear...

(You'd end up with an earful of crackers and beer.)

11. Marty Robbins' "El Paso" is the ONLY "death song" that works
Unlike "Patches", "the Last Kiss", "Honey", "Rocky" (Remember that one? Austin Roberts, 1975.), "El Paso" is the only one of these songs that damn near brings me to tears every time I hear it. Why is that?

15. One day while I was not at home
While she was there and all alone
The angels came..

Dave Barry says it works best if you imagine he's referring to the Hell's Angels.
