if you'd read the story on my web site last week:
Fat Wreck Chords Records founder Michael "Fat Mike" Burkett...has come out against Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush in the best way he knows how: by releasing the compilation album Rock Against Bush Vol. I.
"Because of the dire circumstances that we face, everyone is coming together in the name of good ol' fashioned punk rock unity and speaking out against the buffoon that runs our country," explains Fat Mike. Aside from NOFX, twenty-five bands, including Ministry, Sum 41, The Offspring, Anti-Flag, Social Distortion, Jello Biafra, and Pennywise, contributed songs, 17 of which have been previously unreleased...
But Rock Against Bush wants to do more than just entertain. Fat Mike has included a bonus DVD that contains videos...and...versions of two documentaries produced by Robert Greenwald that take a revealing look at the Bush financial/political empire. Unprecedented explains how Florida Governor Jeb Bush conspired to tip the 2002 U.S. presidential election in favor of his brother George by disenfranchising minority voters and peddling influence in the courts....Uncovered: The Whole Truth about The Iraq War narrates how the Bush White House misled, defrauded, intimidated and just plain lied America into invading Iraq for reasons that had more to do with personal empire-building than with pre-empting an imminent threat. The full version of (Uncovered) is due for a theatrical release in time for the 2004 Republican party national convention.
Fat Mike has also joined forces with MoveOn.org, whose voter fund sponsored a Bush In 30 Seconds contest...The five winning commercials appear on the DVD...
The album can be purchased online for only $6.00US--regrettably, they've already run out of free bumper stickers. The album debuted at #13 in England, and is expected to reach the US record charts shortly. Volume Two of Rock Against Bush is due out in August.
