Poll question: How liberal are you?
On a scale from one to ten. One being a brown-shirted Hannity-worshipping moran. Ten being, well, as liberal as you can get.

3. Well everyone I know tells me -
"you're as liberal as you can get"

It's good to be a 10 at something!

5. I've been told that as well,
but meeting others on this board has made me realize otherwise.

4. I'm probably a 7.
I'd say I'm just a smidgeon to the right of Wellstone, but a teeny bit to the left of Kerry and Dean.

6. It really depends on the issue
Edited on Sun May-09-04 05:19 PM by LSdemocrat
Some issues, like health care, the environment, education, and certain social issues, I am VERY liberal.

But on others like fiscal policy, labor issues, and trade, I'm fairly centrist.

On edit: I forgot a word!

11. I'm a 10...
Let me put it this way: I think Huey "Kingfish" Long was the great politican of the 30's, not FDR.

13. I'm In the Middle
Voted "5." Despite what my fellow Texan, Jim Hightower says. Of course, when Texans figured how liberal Hightower was, he was defeated.

14. 9
Very much a Democratic Socialist, but I do not believe government should control all means of production (i.e. communism).

15. I'm a radical -- I believe the system is totally broken
However, I don't want socialism, which seems to have all the disadvantages of capitalism (size, centralization, rigidity) without its potential advantages of innovation and pluralism.

I also don't want reforms of the safety net sort, which merely shore up the existing system. As a result, I can't get very enthusiastic about much of the standard liberal agenda.

I want something completely different, a new system that will make it possible for people to get about their fundamental business of being creative and mutually supportive, without the deliberate waste and inevitable cruelty of what we have now. I just don't know what that would look like.

I voted 9, meaning I stop one step short of advocating bloody revolution. But I don't really think I fall anywhere on the liberal spectrum.

16. off the charts liberal
I'm the most liberal person I've ever met... would be a Ralph Nader voter if he got on the ballot ... was against the war in *Afghanistan* ... I'd vote Socialist if I ever saw one on the ballot.

17. Shaken, not stirred
I'm a weird amalgam of Social Democrat, small "L" libertarian, anarchist, cockeyed optimist and cynical, misanthropic bastard. So I have no idea where I fall on the scale. Some issues, probably a 10, some issues, probably a 1.
