For the first time in twenty years
I haven't bought my fishing license, time was I'd have them as soon as the weather warmed. Now, though, hell I've deteriorated physically so much that the computer is rapidly becoming my world. I've got a shed full of tackle, rods, reels, and misc. that I'm seriously thinking of putting on ebay.
I just wanted to see how that sounded, it's been such a big part of my life, and it's hard to accept the change. Well, that's the first step.

1. God, I haven't been fishing in so long....
The last time was around 1982. When I was a kid, though, I used to love heading down to the river with my rod and reel and some worms, and just spend the afternoons there. I always threw the fish right back, but keeping them was never the point anyway.

Thanks for jogging my memory, Freddie! Given the downhearted mood I've been in lately, I needed a pleasant thought or two. :yourock:

2. Give It A Year Or Two...
... see if you feel the same next year. Then you'll have a better idea. Good luck.

3. Would it be possible for you to go to more accessible fishing spots?

Might not be quite as exciting, but it would still get you out and around. Less chance of snake bite? :)

4. I'm not worried about snakes
Falling on my face and breaking expensive equipment is what I'm more concerned with. The trouble with these handi spots that were made for people like myself to use, is that they put them in the worst possible place for good fishing. They put in docks, and piers, where it's easy to put them in, but no self respecting fish would live.

6. Darn those particular fish!
They never seem to cooperate when fishing fever is at its worst. :)

5. My brother in law, Steve, used to LIVE for fishing.
It was not unusual for him to be out of the house by 5AM and not return until evening.

I don't think he has fished regularly in YEARS.

It would not surprise me if he does not have a current fishing license either.

Steve, does, however still subscribe to various fishing magazines.

7. Oh yeah
I've got a huge library, Magazines, catalogs, secret maps where x marks the spot. Maybe Steve and I should go fishin instead of wishin.
