(Jermaine)O'Neal becomes an MVP -- Most Visible Prom date
Eight years after graduating from high school, Indiana Pacers All-Star Jermaine O'Neal finally got to attend the prom.

But only because Janese Banks had the nerve to ask.

Banks, a senior at Ben Davis High School, jokingly asked O'Neal to take her to the school's prom when they met at a news conference for the Jermaine O'Neal Super Shootout game in March.

To her surprise, he said yes. After he got permission from his fiancée, of course.

"It wasn't something I was planning," said Banks, who will attend the University of Wisconsin next year on a basketball scholarship. "It was a spur-of-the-moment thing. I guess it pays to be assertive."
