How come it's still on the air?

Most of the laughs are utterly forced.

It is not funny. Not in the slightest. Well, Nick Burns was okay but it's clear that series was aimed at a niche audience (PC Support people, like me, who'll be made redundant by thin clients in 1~2 years.)

It hasn't been good since 1994.

Who sponsors this show anyway? Robots?

1. I haven't watched SNL since Chris Farley and Phil Hartman died.

Will Ferrell is funnier in the movies than he was on SNL, IMO. other than that, it's CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAPOLA...

2. Must be relatively cheap to produce.
That's the excuse they all use for replacing anything of any redeeming social or cultural value with reality shows and so-called 'news' programming.

when young people would arrange each Saturday night to be in front of a television in order to experience the most sublime comedy imaginable.

Sadly, today it is a shadow of itself. I haven't watched regularly in over 20 years.

But, when it was good, it was OH SO GOOD!!!!!!!

7. yep and isn't it ironic
that we were (mostly) teenagers at the time, being entertained by older folks (thinking of some of the early guest hosts), now it's usually teenagers (or those whose appeal is in that range) failing to entertain us oldies.

4. People always complain about SNL.
Yes, they even did it in 1994. Only the first five seasons were immune from criticism, and then retroactively the seasons that were deemed horrible become beloved over a period of time.

Personally, I think the show is better now than it has been. They've got a talented group of performers, several sketches actually make me laugh, and they don't rely on stupid gimmick characters anymore. Most of the time, the quality of an episode depends on the host, and unfortunately, they still have some lame ass choices.

9. and that was it, judging by the subsequent lack of posts
They start out strong and plummet faster than a post-bender beer shit.

6. SNL is like pop music and Mad Magazine....
It speaks to the age it reaches, and the rest of the generations wonder, WTF?????

Actually, tonight was one of the better shows. Tina Fey is hilarious. And I remember the John Belushi and Gilda Radner days.

8. Tina Fey is great
I really enjoy the stuff she writes. Weekend Update is usually worth watching even if the rest of the show is sucky.

Lindsay Lohanne was good last week.
