4. I'm so far behind in films it's silly
We now have a state-of-the-art dvd/hd/dolby sound system. It's much more enjoyable just to wait about 6 months and see it at home. Hell, the price of a ticket is about half the price of a dvd these days.

And you don't have to get dressed up.

6. Brian Cox, that's who
It's also got Julie Christie, Peter ("I'm not dead! I was asleep!") O'Toole, Brendan Gleeson, Saffron (sigh) Burrows, Boromir and Legolas... and it's directed by Wolfgang Petersen of Das Boot fame. At the very least, it should be an interesting failure.

8. an interesting failure
Most def.

On some level, whether by being an actual good movie or a huck of cheese, I think "Troy" is going to be worth seeing at some point in the near future for me. It could be the next Ishtar or it could be the next Titanic. Who knows at this point?

11. I suspect it's going to be the next Gladiator.
Wildly successful despite glaring shortcomings and at least one actor going way, way over the top plus a bit of a guilty pleasure for me.

5. With Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom in it...
in short leather skirts and no pants...does it really matter whether it's "good" or not. :)

7. And as a special effects geek
I'm going to have to watch it at some point in my life. The massive battles that I've seen scenes of on tv seem near or better than the Lord of the Rings scenes we've seen, just because they're going for realism..

9. Brad showing his legs
who cares about the movie? Did anyone else see him in People's 50 Most Beautiful a few weeks back? Gorgeous pics of him and his legs!

10. I can't wait to see it...
I would watch Brad Pitt read the phone book cover to cover, and Orlando Bloom is easy on the eyes, also. Not to mention that it's a ripping good story, too. I always rooted for the Trojans until I understood that Achilles was bisexual and his rage at losing Briseis was only overcome by his fury that Hector killed his dearest friend, Patroculous (sp?);-)

12. Hmph... If it isn't poory dubbed,
Edited on Sat May-08-04 10:55 PM by JonathanChance
Does net star either Steve Reeves or Reg Park, have bad dubbing, scantily clad women, bad acting, and equally bad special effects, It'll probably not be a movie set in Ancient Greece that I would want to watch....

13. A blonde Helen? Must be realted to the blonde Jesuses
of Hollywood fame.

Other than that, everything I have seen (I got to see a couple weeks of dailies) tells me it will be awesome.

14. Pitt is a Dem
and he's not a bad actor for a pretty boy. Plus I love historical movies-so I'll be there!

15. Leonard Maltin and what's her name gave it a rave today.
Said Pitt was excellent and that Peter O'Toole should get Oscar consideration for his role. They also showed the Helen - yeah, she's hot. The rest of the cast got good marks as did the various battle scenes.

This had disaster written all over it, but I'll see it after Maltin's review.

17. I have been to the future and seen "Troy."
If you are the kind of person who watches movies for a few seconds of computer animation, you might like this one.

If you are the kind of person who goes to movies to see sexually attractive actors, you might like this one.

For intelligent people, it's going to blow.
