1. I used to. It was a 1980 Chevy Impala bought at auction. Sleeper engine.
It was sweet. I still miss that car. :hi:

2. I've seen people drive 'em, I might buy one myself
when the Corolla breaks down. Cheap is what I want right now.

5. I'm buying one. Used to own an 85 dodge. I hear tbbbhe trick is to
find the captain's car. The one driven to and from the office.

3. Used to own several over the years...

But they were usually retired taxicabs, which are just retired cop cars with an extra 200,000 miles added onto them.

The one exception being a Volare I bought at auction that was done up as a Michigan Hwy Patrol 'interceptor' -- it had a 440 in it (!) and straight-pipe exhaust. Way too fast (and thirsty)...

I don't own any cars now -- just a 145cc scooter.

It belongs to Jag but he's eventually going to give it to me.

On edit: it's a 93 Taurus, and it has some serious speed potential!

6. Is there a place to find them online?
There are never any auctions in my area. I've had kind of a sneaking fascination with the idea ever since my first boyhood viewing of The Blues Brothers...

"It's got a cop motor, a four-hundred-and-forty cubic-inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks, it was a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas."

7. Drove a few when I drove cab for awhile, and one WICKED Crown Vic
.
.
.

It was a late 90's full size Crown Vic, and I was in a hurry to get to a call

so I tromped it.

Feckadee !

That thing took off so fast, I'll admit the adrenaline got going . .

But I held it to the floor . . . :bounce:

The damm thing almost went sideways shifting from 1st to second at around 55mph (yeah, it was screaming)

Well, being a mechanic, I said feck the "fare" - pulled it over and peeked under the hood

I dunno what that engine was, but it was a twin overhead cam V-8, NOT a regular Ford engine.

Up here, most of the cop cars get "retired" between 70 - 100,000 km, just barely broken in.

If I'm ever in the market for a fast car again, I'm gettin' me an old cop car. They are ALL fast up here.

All cop cars get auctioned off up here, some get a performance "chip" removed from the electronics, but that's easily "fixed".

But I'll never forget that Crown Victoria.

I drove a few of the "real" muscle cars back in the 70's, like the Duster 340, and even had a 69 Vette with the 427/6-pack for a bit.

But a full size Crown Vic to literally twisting up the axle and spinning the tires when shifting really surprised me.
