Edited on Sat May-08-04 05:36 PM by Kellanved
I'm an Eintracht Frankfurt fan, and after a poor performance today, they'll almost certainly end up in the 2nd division.

Edit: left Midfield, but rarely so and completely unrelated to the above.

3. What is so bad if they change divisions?
Help me understand. I don't follow those soccer teams.

6. prestige
It is about playing against the top teams, gaining acces to the European leagues and competitions and almost more importantly: money. 2nd division matches are rarely shown in TV, resulting in less money.

Being 2nd division means being non-existant to most soccer fans - and many teams get dragged down after being relegated - they sometimes end up in regional leagues, far out of sight.

20. It's kind of like if
the teams that finished last in each of the divisons of Major League Baseball would have to play in AAA the next year. it's a major setback.

I thought you were going to say that you're a Leeds United fan.

26. I dunno really, Bob
I shouldn't be because I absolutely love Yorkshire but for some reason, Leeds United just never tickled my fancy.

I got into English football when I lived over there in the early nineties and I immediately developed a soft spot for Sheffield Wednesday but for some reason I took an instant dislike to Leeds.
Certainly not the level of dislike I have for say Man U. but it's there nonetheless.

Living in London, I supported Millwall and they will meet Man U in the FA Cup Final, although I don't give us much of a chance the way we are playing right now.

But as far as Leeds U is concerned, I do think it a shame that a city the size of Leeds will have no representation in the Premiership next year. That's sad.

I don't follow Leeds United but watching them twist in the wind until they finally were sent down - I can feel your pain.

As the concept of play offs is not present in European soccer. Unless, of course, you mean the Chamions League - which is somewhat like a play off - then : no.

But they're not playing for the national title. Same thing in Germany: the winners of regional leagues play against each other to determine who risies into a federal league.

of all the teams going down this year I thought the Wolves were the most well Gallant. And they did beat Manchester United. Something to hold on to.
They will be back.

We'll bounce back if we keep a hold on Henri Camara, the best player we've had since God i.e. Stevie Bull :)

We'll never die, we'll never die
We'll never die, we'll never die
We'll keep the gold flag flying high

The Wanderers will never die

31. You have my sympathy.
I support Sheffield Wednesday, and I'm sure there are UK DUer's who can fill you in on their current plight. Our only consolation is that the hated Leeds United look to be going the same way, only with nearly 4 times our debt.

Oh wait no they're not, they are unbeaten in the Premiership, although I can imagine a loss today at Fulham. Still they've won the league.
