I am visiting my loving mother in sunny, hot Arizona. She lives approx. 20 miles east of lovely Sedona.

Today I decided to get on her treadmill while she is out getting her truck tuned up.

So far the Phoenix gas "crisis" has not hit Cottonwood, the town where my loving mother lives.

1. anything? do you think some DUers are paid political hacks ...
... like, actually, paid to post places like here; and, that they hope to land a 'job' inside their candidate of choice's administration come 2005; ergo, do whatever at DU to make sure their candidate is the nominee ... to make that happen ... as they pose as just a concerned citizen ?????

p.s.

lived in Scottsdale for almost 3 years

While some people may be paid by a campaign to lurk and post on the boards I think the vast majority of DUers are here for support and edification. It's a mean cruel world out there in Bushland and it can't get much more Bushlandy than Arizona that's for sure. DU is the oasis in the calm that is the Bush storm on America.

In all the reporting about the Phoenix gas "crisis" not one word in support of alternative fuel or *gasp* PUBLIC transit is mentioned in the corporate media.

9. I've noticed that--I would happily take the bus
(the city subsidizes free bus cards for its employees), but because I need to be home when the kid gets home I have to drive. Looking into alternatives now though. I'm gonna try to telecommute at least one day this week.

I used to take the bus all the time; it gave me a great chance to read. Hubby is doing it now (parked the Lexus in the garage) and has discovered it ain't at all bad.

4. Southie or a Northie???
Southie here, living in north Phoenix now.

I never thought I would EVER welcome a Wal-Mart, but the ex Los Arcos area is slumming fast . . .

So sad.

3. Can you e-mail me some gas???
Need premium unleaded (fuel injection)--looks like I may telecommute this week!

What's the weather like? Such a beautiful area, I hear it's still quite pretty even after the fires.

5. The area my mom lives
in is BEAUTIFUL! There are the red rocks and believe it or not a lot of green areas. The ride from Sedona to Flagstaff is absolutely awe inspiring. Everytime I come out here I am amazed that there can be something this beautiful.

Is it any wonder that new agers have made a home in Sedona? It is a magical place.

6. Was the treadmill connected to a generator?
Might be worth considering in the "long run", if you know what I mean.

7. Hey that's one way
of getting exercise in. Most Americans cannot go for long periods of time without TV. Heck I would not be a happy camper without my daily dose of DU and that requires an Internet connection.

No, the treadmill is connected only to an outlet...hmmmm maybe that's not such a good idea, huh?

I return to St Louis on Saturday and while the weather has been brutal all week (heat indices in the low 100s) I hear the temperature is supposed to moderate by the weekend. So nice for it to do that on my return.

10. I like visiting
my mom but I don't think I could live in Cottonwood. It is really so small. Also there aren't many good paying jobs in this area.

I prefer an urban area where there are actually real live Jews. I know the Sedona Jewish community is building a synagogue but it isn't complete yet.
