Is there a British equivilent of DU?
I feel I should stop hanging around in an American forum & stay with my own kind. Actually I read the "Has anyone here at DU ever done anything nice for you in the 'real world'?" thread & thought I'll never meet any of you lot. While the forums are fun and everyone here is very nice, I should find something more local.

Thank you.

1. Dunno, but you should stay with us.
We enjoy the diversity of opinion you and your fellow British DUers bring to the board.

4. Bummer...
Or at least, no one knows of one? I'd like to hunt around for that, could be interesting!

3. Tony blair has shut them down
There were several forums, but in the war of lies, they were all
shut down. I've seriously considered what it would take to form
"labour underground" dot com on a mirror server.

There used to be 2 forums of speakers corner, ukonline.gov.uk had
a free speach area... all dead.

Welcome to DU, this is the place for british free speech in the
absence of any conversation... like the big bullshit conversation ;-)
and the email tony blair sent me after i replied...

5. I guess you're right, Sweetheart ...
... my attempts to find a good British left-wing site have been fruitless.

I'd always be willing to support if anyone wanted to try. Sadly, my own ICT skills aren't up to starting up a website myself.

6. Please stay.
There are DU'ers from around the world who regularly participate in these forums.

We all learn a lot from each other. And, we especially need diverse and world-wide input for this board to remain vital and healthy.

For me, some of my favourite DU'ers reside outside the U.S.! From these members contributions we receive local / national news, personal perspective, and even some good-natured humour, too.

So, please reconsider. We need you!

:hi:

8. Some of my best friends are Brits.
I just wouldn't want my daughter to marry...no...wait...I guess that'd be OK too.
BTW, you misspelled your hobby.
;-)
Stick around.

9. Check out
Guardian Unlimited talk. But be careful. There are some very bright people over there. Have both oars in the water before you say anything.

10. Yep, the Grauniad.
Guardian talkboards are the main place I know. I used to hang around on Liberty Watch UK but that seems to have died on its arse of late. I'll post the link but I must warn you that the last time I did this I did get complaints about virus's. Hopefully that has been sorted out by now.

12. DU has recently expanded to include State forums for local activism.
Perhaps Skinner would expand those forums for our international DUers as well. Welcome to DU, Guy_Montag. :hi:

15. Give Guardian Talk a chance
particularly the International forum

http://talk.guardian.co.uk/WebX?14@166.ex17eELGVbq.1@.464

Lots of good threads - and many tend to last a long time - up to several years.

There are a lot of awfully bright folks there - with a terrific grasp of international events, economics, history etc.

and they tend to be quite outspoken - good manners are often out-the-window.
