I hereby pledge to reply to all lone posts I encounter. Anyone with me?

There's nothing quite like that sinking feeling you get when you post something you think is pertinent, and no one responds.

Having been there so many times before and left feeling like an extraterrestrial intruder, I hereby pledge to reply to all lone posts (those with no replies) I encounter on DU.

Exceptions will be limited to I/P posts and lurking freeper posts.

If I'm around (I keep a DU window open while at work), I'll try to respond to as many lone posts as I can.

Is anyone else ready to pledge likewise?

If no one replies to this post, I still intend to "Kerry Forth" with my pledge.

The bloody traffic gets so high at times, that a post drifts off the front page before anyone has much of a chance to see it.

4. When this board went through a renovation,

there had been a feature which tallied the # of hits a particular post received. The tallies were typically quite high, even when there were few, if any, replies.

I miss that feature, but I think it was causing problems for the server. At any rate, it was removed. After seeing the level of traffic this board gets, I felt it was more important to get content UP and not worry whether anyone had a reply, since it was surely being read, perhaps by people in the media.

I respond to about 10% of what I read here. It's not that I don't find what I'm reading valuable. Usually I save it to a file, yet don't respond. The number of responses doesn't equate to the value of a post.

I don't really have time to reply for the sake of boosting my post count, but I feel obligated to reply to lone posts whenever possible.
