1. Can't believe he continues to say this
I first heard the "brown-skinned people can govern themselves" comment in the disastrous press conference, and then again just the other day after Cheney's 9/11 testimony.

I can't believe he continues to say this, with impunity.

What people have said "brown-skinned people CAN'T govern themselves"? He attempts to imply that this is the general opinion of all critics of the war, casting all critics as racist morons; when, I expect, the only people proffering this view are his neo-con henchmen.

3. He's talking to his supporters. This is exactly how they think of ethnic
looking people. Now you know why the right-wing doesn't like PC. Because their prejudices seep into their language time and time again.

5. I think he's doing it to let his supporters know...
he's still a racist at heart. The Republikkkans I know are jealous of the Iraqi's. They believe we are actually liberating the Iraqi's and it pisses them off. I think all this liberation bullshit will end up hurting GW more than it helps.

6. I thought 'what kind of a person would say something like this?'
What kind of world does this man live in? What kind of family does he come from? What kind of people does he associate with? It's just excrutiating listening to him. There's no reason I should feel embarassed for him, but I do.

-quote-

"?there's a lot of people in the world who don't believe that people whose skin color may not be the same as ours can be free and self-govern. I reject that. I reject that strongly. I believe that people who practice the Muslim faith can self-govern. I believe that people whose skins aren't necessarily ? are a different color than white can self-govern.

"And the Prime Minister ? I don't want to put words in his mouth ? but I think he shares that great sense of optimism and possibility. And it's good to have a friend who shares that with us." -end quote-
