Never take vicodin after a traditional breakfast
Sausage, gravy, bacon and vicodin do NOT mix.

(Vicodin for a sprained knee and broken tooth...no abuse going on here)

1. Vicoden is nasty
eat something light like plain toast then take 1/2 of one pill. Wait about 1 hr. if you haven't heaved by then have another slice of plain toast and take the other half.

Vicoden is a nasty pain killer - I hated it.

For you kheph

I NEVER could get addicted to it, as I hate it too. Every so often it makes me feel like I have ants crawling under my skin. It's a med of the last resort for me.

3. I have yet to understand the addictive quality of this drug..I get
sick on it too keph. I take it quite regularly for pain control and manage to keep forty or so pills for a year before needing a refill. It basically takes away the edge of the pain, but leaves my stomach feeling like crap the next couple of days.

Hope you are soon feeling better. :hi:

8. Exactly
My stomach always feels like someone has taken a brush and scrubbed it out after taking them. I thank god that it's like this with me and pills, as I've got such an addictive personality....I have enough of a problem staying away from booze--it's nice that I'll never have to worry about pills.

(I'm pretty much this way with all pills, thank god. I don't know of any of them that I've ever mistreated.)

4. Weird, I was given a few to get me through running for UPS over xmas
It made me feel like I could kick Bruce Lee's ass. and I have a great respect for Bruce Lee.

Maybe it was the activity on top of the pills. I only ever had three, and never since then. The pain in my knees was getting unbearable, they were like a trucker booster.

5. I could seriously get addicted to it
I'm all for making pot legal, but if you could buy vicodin over the counter I'd probably be dead right now. Or possibly in recovery.

6. Having problems with Vicodin too
I had surgery on Thursday for a broken finger and ruptured tendon. Ouch! I had to call in for another prescription. That one isn't much better (Tylenol #3),

Try taking some Benadryl prior to taking the Vicodin, It helps a little with the nausea. This was advice from the doctor's office.

9. if you need yet more, get T4
you can't have the doc call it in, though. Have to get a paper rx.

Sorry about your finger.

11. Thanks Bertha
I think I will be okay with my little arsenal of drugs. The bummer is I am in a cast up to my elbow. Typing with one hand for six weeks and it will be close to 100 here today. Miserable.

7. ooh, bummer, I am so sorry
for the pain and the bad mix.

Vicodin works great as a pain killer, but it knocks me out, and I usually wake up as spin-art. (i.e., :puke: )

10. If I take something like that, then I do one of two things:
I either barf up what ever is in my stomach, or I get the dry heaves. The pain isn't so bad after all.

14. if it makes you nauseous, you're probably taking too much
Edited on Sun May-02-04 12:10 PM by unblock
the more you use a narcotic, the better you will be able to tolerate it ... that's part of the road to addiction.

as a general rule, dose up to the point it makes you only very slightly nauseous. beyond that, the tradeoff usually isn't worth it, though that depends on your tolerance for pain vs. nausea.

in otherwords, try half and pill. consider also taking a tylenol on the side as that works as a good adjunct to narcotic pain relief (it's actually the primary ingredient in vicodin.)
