There was probably already a post on this, if so, sorry. Damn the U.S. played well, they should have absolutely slaughtered them. But Eddie Pope's 90th minute goal was a good way to win too. Anyone see the game?

1. Probably not
Soccer remains the tiddywinks of U.S. sports.

4. Ajax Rocks!

For a nation of 16 million Holland puts out some fine football.

Ajax is topping PSV ... brilliant football.

Congrats on Arsenal... it's nice to NOT to see Manchester United on top!

Did it all with a fraction of Manchester United's budget.

6. Ajax and PSV
Are machines that pump out some of Europe's finest. Ajax has made more money out of Italian, UK and Spanish clubs than any other club in the world.

The money Ajax has made over the years is shameful in a way. It's like a football player factory.

8. True
Arsenal have just signed another young Dutch player (the next Bergkamp according to De Telegrapf) for £3m (ish).

Takes Wenger's total purchases to around £35-40m.

Man Utd, on the other hand, have spent around £50m (admittidly with Rudd van N and Veron in that) in the same period.

The difference is a good youth team policy on the part of Man Utd, churning out quality English talent for about the same cost of what Wenger's buying from France to put into our reserves.

Personally, I'd rather Arsenal had a more English players. I mean, why did we let Wright (the keeper) and Upson leave? Idiocy. And now Pennant's looking like he might leave.

10. And with 2 Englishmen in the starting line-up...
Well done the French national side.

As far as I know, Arsenal spent about half of what Man United did. But nothing even close to what Chelsea spent.

11. Holland not having a WC title...
...and friggin' France having one can only be described as a cosmic abomination.

I was 9 in 1974, and I vividly remember my disappointment at the final (even though that 2-0 on Brazil was still kinda stinging).

12. Germany is a pathetic shadow of its former self
It is beyond me how they made it into the 2002 final.
