What is your favorite piece of propaganda art?
Edited on Thu Apr-29-04 07:57 PM by renegade000
Here's mine:

It's Trotsky! That great Soviet knight, slaying the reactionary capitalist (note the top hat :P) serpent, riding his noble, white steed.

Never fails to make me chuckle. Crazy Bolsheviks ;)

On Edit: Anyone know what the Russian on the snake says?

Rodchenko is my favorite.

His graphic design and photography is so inspiring.

Some of the lesser stuff is fun too.

7. That is a GREAT piece
Unfortunatelly, destroyed not long after it was finished.
Wasn't this in Rockefeller Center?
Diego had guts.

8. Yeah but he went to Spain and repainted it
Edited on Thu Apr-29-04 08:36 PM by nothingshocksmeanymo
The irony is that the piece was commissioned as a result of the efforts of a CIA group called the Congress for Cultural Freedom whose mission was to USE artists such as Rivera to prove that better art came from free countries...so they commissioned him...he painted it..then they set a wrecking ball to it.
