People are just being greedy (real estate rant)
I can't find a decent townhouse 30 miles out of Washington, D.C. to save my neck! I put a contract on one last night and the realtor called to tell me they want money over and above the value of the house!

We aren't talking about a honey house here. We're talking about a little town home built in 1976 on a postage stamp tract of land that needs a new roof.

They want money over and above what I'm able to finance! Go figure?

2. Did you have your kerry sticker on your car? Tell them you're
a Bush supporter, you'll get a special interest deal. Or you could take in a repug roomate?

I have "Bush Lied, People Died" on mine.

5. Charles County
I didn't really want to go over to Maryland although I thought about it. It is better over there, isn't it? I have family in Woodbridge.

It's certainly something I'll look into as I get more and more discouraged in Virginia.

12. I didn't realize how badly you wanted to stay in Virginia.
I hope you can find something that suits you in all ways. My fingers are crossed!

I can't tell you if MD would be better for you, but one thing's for sure: on the whole, MD's not nearly as conservative as VA.

10. I know the feeling
Prices go up religiously every year. The wife and I had come to within 2 years of buying our own house, and were pretty excited about being "only" a couple of years away. I got laid off a month later and took a few years' worth of steps back.

Little wonder why more and more apartments are being built. Apartment rent is ~1/3 of a mortgage payment.
