I am very sad....
I am watching 60 Minutes II and there is a report about 17 AMERICAN soldiers who TORTURED Iraqi prisoners of war.

I said this in LBN, but I think it needs to be asked in the Lounge as well....

People ask Germans of a particular generation, what did they do during Hitler's reign. Future generations will ask us what did we do when George W Bush was president of the US?

How are we going to answer that question to the pre-school kids of today when they become old enough to question what is going on around them?

Very sad. I think these soldiers are so indoctrinated with HATE that acts such as those by the 17 soldiers in Iraq are overlooked.

;(

1. This is just what's caught on film.
Consider how much isn't caught on film.

Also consider how many "americans" will be defending these practices.

2. Geneva convention, war crimes, et al...

I'm amazed CBS wasn't yanked when airing this. Bushko* has wanted to stay far away from the UN and these moral clauses.

Now we know why. As usual, he* wants to do what he* wants, with no repercussions to himself or his cabinet.

He's* vile and filthy.

Oh, this is also 'war'. Or so they've been told. To disobey an instant order is severe. This is why we need to pick our commanders carefully. An unscrupled one going to be a real bugger.

3. I asked a good friend, a German woman who's 75 now...
...she grew up under the Nazis, and she said they "just tried to go about their business and keep a low profile" In other words, they just wanted to get through it without drawing any attention to themselves. Alot of Americans today are like alot of Germans then.
