I am laundering money again
Just found a crisp dollar bill in the dryer.

That's ordinary though. Does anyone have stories of things they REGRET accidentally putting through the laundry cycle? :D

1. Several wallets
Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 04:48 PM by Fenris
Although only one went through the dry cycle. 'Twas that day, in my dewy youth, that I found out that leather warps.

Also a 1" peace button. Rusty t-shirt afterwards.

6. yup. she did
but not as embarassing as having to tell Susan Burns that night that we would have to settle for 'other means' cause my white cordoroy's weren't 'cleaned out' prior to laundering

:D

11. Was your one condom smuggled...
to you across State lines by a mysterious man in black who would only meet you at night in a poorly-lit and deserted spot under a bridge across from a cemetary?

13. pretty close
it was purchased on the black market from a friend who had a brother who knew a guy who had a cousin who found it lying in a ditch on the side of a road somewhere next to a wooded area still sealed in its wrapper which had been somewhat faded by the sun and had been slightly torn at the corner by the hoof of a passing horse

i mean, $50 didn't go very far even in THOSE days! x(

7. Crayons
They gave my son some at a restaurant one night and he put them in his pocket, and they were not the washable kind. Up to this point I had never had a reason to check his pockets, he had not discovered them yet. Unfortunately, they made it all the way to the dryer before I noticed.

What a mess, the dryer drum was all kinds of colors. Several shirts were ruined, and I was sporting rainbow underwear for while.

8. A sticker...
I was at a rally of something and someone gave me a sticker to put on my shirt. Well, I forgot to take it off when I put the shirt in the wash. Let's just say that the sticky stuff on teh back didn't like being put in the dryer and it ansolutely WILL NOT come off after that no matter what you do. And I really liked that shirt. :(

17. Hell, it's a happy laundry cycle
when one of my stepsons DOESN'T have something disgusting in his laundry. The trouble with these gigantic jeans kids wear now is they have like 50 gigantic cargo pockets. The boys are way too lazy to go through all 50 pockets, so there's always pens and beads and kleenex and prescription bottles and asthma inhalers and small children in at least one pocket.

And my husband wonders why I insist on laundering MY clothes separately...

23. I'm constantly finding stuff in our laundry
Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 05:34 PM by Pithlet
Mainly blocks and small toys. We've had the crayon in the washer incident already, so that is out of the way. I check the laundry very carefully now. The errant Lego or matchbox car still makes its way through, though.

Edit: I've done the money laundering thing, too. Luckily bills seem to hold up pretty well in the wash.

Legos, and all kinds of various other small plastic objects that kill your feet when you step on them. I think 20 years from now, future owners of this house will still be finding legos and small plastic barn animals around the house.

34. Not graphic, just fury...
Our cat Shadow, who is about 30 pounds and sways when she walks (because of her stomach) used to sleep in the dryer. One day, while I was quite sleep deprived, I accidentaly turned on the dryer while she was in it...

After about 5 minutes, I heard this "MEOW" (realy deep for a female cat) and I went to open up the dryer. She crawled out, puffed out so much she looked like... like a dandilion thats gone white. Only more so...

Needless to say, she no longer sleeps in the dryer.
