Well another year and STILL not drafted by the Browns
Once again, just like last year and the year before that, I sat right by the phone all weekend and once again the Browns didn't call me on draft day. I was in my best suit and was even mackin' some bling bling (as the kids say) and no call.

Oh sure they draft Kellen Winslow he's fast and big and talented and strong and talented and all that but not me.

I am starting to get really tired of this waiting game they are playing. I have been draft eligible for 15 years now and I would even consider waiving my signing bonus at this point.

Oh well there is always next year.

1. That's all right, the Chargers will take you...
...if your dad will allow it.

3. That's funny
I was going to start a thread this morning ont he "Eli Manning Fan Club"-apparently he got chewed out by a Giants fan out on the street right after the trade was announced.

8. I'm telling you, that kid is doomed....
If you have never taken a professional snap, and you're ego is THAT big, New York City is definitely NOT the place to have your mouth writing checks that your ass probably can't cash. If Joe Montana in his prime pulled that stunt, he could trot out there, and win 14 games, and the New Yorkers would still find things wrong with him.

10. My first impression was that he didn't look like he could handle it
Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 12:34 PM by underpants
The NY press alone will be all over him (he will sells LOTS of papers for them) and playing in the Philly market and having to face their press (and fans :scared: ) is not easy for anyone.

The first time I saw him without his helmet on....well he looks a bit "shortbus" if you know what I mean.

11. Not necessarily
Namath excelled in NY. Some player might need an overly-large sense of self to survive there.

I think Eli Manning's bigger weakness is his very Testaverde-like quality of throwing the ball to the other team a whole lot in big games.

12. Namath had the mental toughness to pull that off though...
Not so sure about Manning. Joe didn't have his dad making all his decisions for him. Joe made the ESPN most overrated list also BTW. Something that I disagree with entirely. I always thought Jose Canseco should be #1.

13. That list is pure CRAP
Pete Rose overrated?

Nolan Ryan?

I can agree on Swann though.

2. They should've drafted you!
Winslow is such a whiner and a baby - he was pissed that Gibbs and the Redskins didn't draft him...me thinks Cleveland will be sorry!

7. Winslow is an idiot, jr.

The father was an idiot. Locker room cancer. Might have had more to do with the Charger teams he was on not succeeding than anyone else. The father still is an idiot. The son is an idiot just like Dad. If anyone knows what Kellen Winslow can and can't do, it's Joe Gibbs. Gibbs was an assistant coach for the Chargers while Kellen Winslow was there. Gibbs knew what was coming, and RAN the other way. I don't think it's an accident that Winslow was the one chosen by Gibbs to be screen for his real intentions in the draft. I imagine Gibbs enjoyed paying Winslow back for all the times he tugged the coaches chains in SD.

9. That is what I have heard as well
I don't remember who it was (Hall of Famer -Jim Brown?) who went off on Winslow when they had to "carry" him off the field after the Chargers lost to the Dolphins in that memorable playoff game. Whoever it was said ~"He is just doing that for the attention and for people to write about him....."

The NFL still uses that shot in all kinds of intros and merchandising.

5. I can understand previous years
1999-2002 - all those low picks, hard to justify an unproven talent. But, geez, of late the pics are pretty high order - its high time management wises up and uses those later picks on a quality player like yourself. I refuse to go to another Browns game until you are on the roster. :P

I have been yelling at the REd Sox managers for the last 20 years over the TV and they DON'T do what I suggest.
