4. Does that still happen? My great-grandfather lived that life,
after he got hit in one of the "panics" during the Gilded Age. He died in a rail yard. Left my great-grandmother on her own and bitter for a number of years. There's an excellent song, "I never knew my grandad" by Ed Trickett, describes the whole thing very well.
