5. I hate the Leafs with a passion
But what makes things worse is that every hockey broadcaster and talking head is a big Leafs fan. That's why I watch hockey in French, so that I don't have to listen to tax funded mouthpeices such as Don Cherry and Glen Healy knock down my Habs.

Go Philly!!!!!!!!!!

6. exCav, a question somewhat off point. How did the Canadiens get
the "Habs" nickname?

Thanks

...the "H" on the Canadiens logo stands for "Habs" instead of Club de Hockey Canadien.

The fable began in 1924 when US reporter Tex Rickard was falsely informed by someone that the "H" stood for "habitant", a french word that in those days was used to refer the farmers of Quebec.

Rickard was told that the french players on the team came from farms and were therefore, "habitants". At the time, the Canadiens were viewed upon as the french team of Montreal, whereas the Montreal Maroons were the English team.

Remember that on December 4, 1909, J. Ambrose O'Brien founded the Canadian Athletic Club, which officially became the Club de Hockey Canadien (CHC) in 1917. And if you look at the Habs logo below you will see that there does appear to be another "C" surrounding the "H" and of course the big "C" to make the CHC - Club de Hockey Canadien!

9. I hate Toronto more than Philly, but...
...my San Jose Sharks might reach the finals (I don't like their chances against the Avs, to be honest), and if they do I'd much rather see them play Toronto, who I think they'd beat, instead of Philly, who would have a better chance against the Sharks. As such, I must root for Toronto. Sorry, Lynne, it's just business ;)

13. Leafs in 6

Belfour will stop the puck, Esche will not, and Clarke will go nuts once again and turn the roster over.

As a NYR fan, I can say with certainty that Clarke would be the worst GM in the league were it not for the Buffoon From Bamff, Glen Sather.

14. You're right about Clarke
One of the joys of leaving Philadelphia was that I got away from the Stepford fans who love that imbecile so much.

15. We shall see
Brodeur is better than Belfour, and we did fine with him. I think Esche is on a roll.

As for Clarke, he has annoyed me with the goalie thing. But maybe Esche is the one. I'd also like to see the Flyers add a sniper, but I think the Flyers have enough scoring threats now to defeat the Leafs.

17. One thing about not having a great goaltender
...is that it keeps your defensemen alert. That seems to be the problem with my Habs, the defense will take it easy and ride Théo for what all he's worth. During the first period of game 1 versus Boston Théo had to endure 23 shots on goal!!

20. I hate the skydome and the CN tower too!
I hate Nathan Philips Square and the Ontario zoo. The rent's too high, the air's unclean, the streets are dirty and the people are mean. ANd the women are big and the men are dumb and the children are loopy cause they live in a slum, the water is polluted and the mayor' a dork. They dress real bad and they think they're New York...in Torontoooo...Ontariooooohooohoooo!

I'm afraid I will be cheering for the Phlyers, as a Westerner, cheering for the Leafs is a terrible offence.
