Very sick inquiry. (John Wayne Gacy)
I grew up in the NW suburbs of Chicago. I remember hearing a song on the radio after John Wayne Gacy's arrest. It was Pink Floyd's The Wall with the lyrics changed. All I remember is the chorus, "All in all it's just another kid in the crawl."

My husband and I just watched the movie, Gacy. I was telling him about the song and what it was like to be a kid in the area when the news came out. I did a google search but couldn't find the full lyrics.

Does anyone remember the song?

I know, it is quite sick and my curiosity is quite morbid...80% morbid, 20% nostalgic.

Thanks.

1. Ewwwwwwwwwww!
Sorry, don't know the song.

My aunt and uncle lived in Des Plaines. I could never think of it the same way after that.

2. Yikes! Really? There was a song?!
Wow...I don't recall that. Sorta like Kinky Friedman's "The Ballad of Charlie Whitman", eh?

3. RB, we'd question your sanity if you need lyrics to this song:

Heck, we'd come to your home after your child is born and send him off to be raised by a pack of wolves if we knew you wanted lyrics to that song

28. I think it's safe to assume that you and not the pack of wolves...
will be raising your children

(although how cool would that be to have a pack of wolves as your surrogate parents???)

4. I don't remember that one
I was only a few years old when Gacy was arrested, but the trials, the clown pictures, etc. continued for awhile, as did the jokes.

(I grew up in Arlington Heights and Buffalo Grove -- how 'bout you? :hi: to a fellow-ex-Chicago-suburbanite.)

I went to Greenbriar ES and Thomas JHS, which fed into Buffalo Grove HS, but I moved.

Small world, though.

But I have a vague memory of this being a song parody on Steve Dahl's show.

9. Correct lyrics would be
"all in all, its just another brick in the wall"

Can't remember the group -

Starts out as "We don't need your education"

Does that ring a bell???

11. That's the song it's based on.
It's a parody of Pink Floyd's the wall about the John Wayne Gacy murders. Thanks, but I'm looking for the parody lyrics.

12. That's Pink Floyd's The Wall
:hi: Welcome to DU, whosinpower!

rbnync is talking about a sick parody of that song. Apparently it was only availably in Illinois.

Rb, have you checked the p2p networks? People keep some weird shit on their hard drives. Wouldn't surprise me none if somebody had it.

Sidebar: Johnny Depp used to own a clown painting that John Wayne Gacie did. He bought it at an auction, exactly what kind of auction I don't know. But I've read a couple of intereviews with JD, where he said he sold the painting because it plain creeped him out too much. I know it would me! :scared:

13. Funny Related Story
I was in College in Galesburg, IL when the Gacy thing went down. I was in a play at the time called "Buried Child" the play is a Pulitzer Prize winner from Sam Shepard and it is a great play. Anyway, we had posters around campus saying "Sam Shepard's Buried Child." Anyway, several of these posters were changed to read "John Wayne Gacy's Buried Children" Ford Center for Fine Arts, January 19-26, Students Free Admission.

I lived in Whiting House and also off campus. Was the Landmark Cafe there when you were there? That's where I worked.

Also, Flunk Day rules!

17. It's kind of shotty, but interesting.
The writing is okay. Some of the acting is good. It's poorly edited, but compelling. I'd give it a 6.5.

18. I remember! I was in Wisconsin at the time and I can remember
grade schools kids going around singing that song. Whenever Pink Floyd comes on I usually think of that. Sorry I can't help though, I can only remember that one line as well. :hi:

24. my cousin went to school w. one of his victims...
....lived in Des Plaines.

I heard that he started dumping bodies in the DesPlaines River, over in that forest preserve, when he ran out of room in his crawlspace.

...John Wayne Gacy, the original evil clown.

27. The Gacy jokes... THAT is a blast from the past!
Wow, I'd not thought of those in years. We told those things for the longest time. I still remember a couple of them:

How cold is it at Gacy's house? 32 below...

What is Gacy's favorite CW song? Walking the floor over you...

We were freaked out here too--I live just outside Chapmaign-Urbana, and he was here for a few years too. I think he got hooked up with the JayCees when he was living down here, in fact...

He was just one really sick man.

29. Sick? Morbid?
I'm not a bit surprised that my daughter's reaction to a movie about John Wayne Gacy would be to scurry around looking for song lyrics. ;-)

Sorry. I remember the song, but not the lyrics.
