Guitar players: Are acoustic simulator pedals worth a crap?
I'm looking at Boss's Acoustic Simulator pedal, the AC-2.

Anyone had any experience w/ one of these guys?

1. depends on the guitar you're using
if you're using a strat, or thin-bodied single coil guitar, they can be fairly decent. I imagine a hollow-body would sound good, but most hollow bodies have humbuckers, which thickens the sound quite a bit.

I think rockman made an acoustic pedal that sounded great, although i doubt it is in production anymore. Never used the Boss, although they make very nice pedals.

2. Sure..if that is the sound you want to make
Not clear of Boss's current line, but Boss is made by Roland and Roland may make a product that incorporates more than one pedal so you may want to check that out.

For instance, I have a Roland GX that imitates every pedal made by boss through 1999.

Each pedal runs 100 to 200 bucks...i bought my processor for 750.00

3. I Tried It For A Night
I didn't think much of it. I thought i could do just as well by fiddling with the tone, or using a bass boost pedal to thicken a very clean tone.

It does change the tone, but it still doesn't sound like an acoustic guitar, to me.

I did have a friend who had that Line6?? amp that had an acoustic setting and then theres that Parker Fly that has an acoustic setting. When I want acoustic I just set the Les Paul down and grab the Guild.
