Meanwhile...I'd ask her to stop fowarding you those stupid e-mails...and maybe return a few of 'em to her if she doesn't! (Tell her you're putting her on your "spam blocker" list, too!)

11. She is a nutball. I have told her several times that we don't support
Bushco, and that we are pretty liberal minded. Some people just never catch on I guess. :hi:

2. That one's so old it's growing mold
I can't believe it's still in circulation.

I also get the impression that websites like Snopes just appear as a blank page to conservative wingnuts. Some people just believe whatever they want to believe.

Right? Don't have a link for that one, but.... Don't see them boycotting every american flag shirt/pin/cup/cooler/crap that comes out... Gah.

4. it would be fun to start rumors just to make them all crazy
such as :

Anti-American Statement on Dinty Moore Beef Stew can:

Dinty Moore plans to run a new promotion for the "Americas Best all natural Beef Stew". Upon close inspection of the can, on the underside, beneath the paper label, a small line of dot matrix printing (like the kind used to stamp the experation date) that read s"Osam Bin Laden is the new messiah!" A Dinty Moore representative stated that since they buy the cans from a third party vendor and the printing was there before the stew was put in and the can labeled, there is little they can do. Lot numbers for the affected cans beging with the numbers X145-DMBS. LETS DO OUR PART! GO TO THE LOCAL SUPERMARKET AND CHECK THE SOUP AISLE FOR THESE CANS. Then take them to the manager and demand they be removed. I did this just yesterday at the local Save U' Lots and found over two dozen offensive cans.

6. Ahhh time for a *culture jam*
Of course if you wanted it to really carry weight, it has to be beleiveable such as the "Proctor and Gamble- Satanic Church" link....the moon and stars are satanic symbols, etc....

Find freeperish companies, and then make up rumors about them and post to fundie boards. Start email chains.

Try these ones: AFLAC honoring Gay Marriages with insurance benefits...FOX News board has Moonies on board of directors (oh, well that's actually true)...Bush listens to Ozzy records...

with boycotting Wal-Mart's evil empire...we need to figure some way to convince them that Wal-Mart gives money to Satan worshiping cults that sacrifice babies, or something.

Of course, Bellamy's pledge also omitted the words 'of the United States of America' -- silly man, thought we'd understand which flag we were pledging to.

first of all, it wasn't pepsi, it was dr. pepper. and they didn't include the entire pledge, but an abbreviated version: "one nation... with liberty and justice for all." who the hell would take offense to that?!

... and tell them nice job for falling for yet another Internet hoax, designed to make non-thinking mouth breathers fly off the handle. You may wish to mention that every time they argue with you about something that has been proved by many to be a hoax, they look just that much more dumb.

For your neighbor with my compliments...

29. Our founding fathers were pretty direct about
keeping God out of government. Under God was not in the pledge originally. I think it was added in the 1950's. But the founding fathers did not want it on anything!

The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.
George Washington (1732 - 1799)

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American Public." - Theodore Roosevelt

"Question with boldness even the existence of a god." - Thomas Jefferson (letter to Peter Carr, 10 August 1787)

Every man "ought to be protected in worshipping the Deity according to the dictates of his own conscience." - George Washington (Letter to the United Baptist Churches in Virginia in May, 1789)

All religions united with government are more or less inimical to liberty. All, separated from government, are compatible with liberty. HENRY CLAY (1777-1852), Speech, 24 March 1818.

"Power always thinks it has a great soul and vast views beyond the comprehension
of the weak; and that it is doing God's service when it is violating all his
laws." -John Adams

r"The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations, is in
extending our commercial relations to have as little political
connection as possible... Why, by interweaving our destiny with that of
any part of Europe, entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of
European ambition, rivalships, interest, humor, or caprice?... It is our
true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of
the foreign world."

-- George Washington
(1732-1799) Founding Father, 1st US President, 'Father of the Country'
September 19, 1796
