When the hell did I become old?
Ok, about 10 years ago (or more), I'd be out just about every night after work, maybe drink a few times a week, get about 3 hours of sleep and still do 8-10 hours of work.

Today: I don't want to do anything on a weeknight that isn't more than 10 minutes from my home and I want to be back home by 9pm so I can be ready to go to bed by then. If I don't get 8 hours a sleep on a work night I'm the crankiest biyatch you'll meet.

What the hell happened to me? When did I become old?????!!!!

4. The hours
Edited on Wed Apr-21-04 01:40 PM by Wright Patman
you sleep before midnight are worth as many as three times or more the same number of hours slept after midnight.

You will be leading a very healthy, if somewhat boring, life from here on out.

5. I got to feeling old when I turned 50
Which was one year ago. It just happens. Your body changes; joints begin to ache after a workout and you just slow down.

6. Sounds very familiar to me.
Actually, it sounds EXACTLY like me.

However I can still go to Vegas, start drinking at noon, drink and gamble til 4 AM, sleep til noon, and start all over again:). So rather than blaming my age, I will blame Denver.

7. I feel your pain
We've had this conversation several times recently. :)

You should hear us complaining when one of the kids has a weeknight school activity, like a band concert: How long will it last? When can we go home? Will we be out past 9?

8. It happens when you're not payin' attention...
.... like when you decided to buy those jeans because they were more comfortable, not because they looked good. And when you decided that some people (mostly young urchins and whippersnappers) DO listen to their music TOO FREAKIN' LOUD.

I never really noticed until someone called me "sir".

Sir? That's my dad!

Eeps.

11. ITA re: the loud music
I just turned 24 and live in an apartment complex near a university. I fucking HATE people and their need to share their wonderful taste in music with me. Just rattle my goddamn pictures off the wall why don't ya.

My girlfriend's parents were telling me about some retirement complex they were moving into and the only thing I could think is, "I bet old people are nice and quiet. Man, that'd be sweet."

10. Last night some friends were over
and I said, "hey, it's 10:30 and I have to go to work in the morning". I'm sorry but goodnight!

So they know I'm an old fogey but I have to think of my career first.

I even remember the Beach Boys before the Beatles. Old fogey here.

14. Lynne I met you and you ain't old
I'm old chronologically but it seems the older I get the stupider I get and the younger I feel.

Its in the head not the bones.

19. I know what you mean, Lynne.
I don't even care that much anymore if I'm home doing nothing on a Friday night! But I've been able to feel young again by doing a guy who is 15 years younger than me. :-) But on the flip side, it can sometimes make me feel old when I see the lifestyle he still has (that I used to have).

20. You know you're old when you appreciate the luxuries of a CADILLAC
sedan.

My time, apparently, has indeed come.

I am now *gulp* middle aged.

22. When you stopped going "WooHoo, it's Friday",
and started thinking "Oh, Friday. I hope I don't have to do anything tonight. I don't even want to drive home, I just want to be transported there."

When you stopped slamming doors, and started saying "Quit it! You are damaging my PROPERTY!"

When you started looking at a 1/4 full gas tank and thought, instead of "Oh, hell, I can make it for a couple more days unless I go to the lake", and thought "Oh, I had better fill up now; who knows what weather will happen and what if I have car trouble?".

When cooking stopped being a fun celebration and became a chore. When other people stopped thanking you for food and started demanding it.

When you and your mate fight over the reading glasses, and accuse one another of stashing them in order to frustrate the other.

When you stop saying "Huh?" because you are trying to ignore adults, and start saying "Huh?" because you honestly are having trouble hearing. Or saying "Huh?" because you simply cannot believe what some youngster is trying to lie about.

When someone yells "It's recycling day and trash day, wake up!" and that someone is you.

Thanks for the boost, LynneSin. I was laughing as I typed it, but it's me all the way. I'm still cute--for my age.
