6. Yah
Give me a good bit of Legeti's
Requiem, or a bit of the Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima anyday.
It makes me twist again, like I did last April 21st.

I like to waltz to Holst's 'Mars' from the Planets as well.

7. Actually I'm quite fond of Bach
I especially love his "St Matthew's Passion" a much more compelling experience spiritually than watching Gibson's movie.

9. It's surprising what you can dance to
As a classical pianist one of the things a lot of us do when learning a piece is dance to it. You always sing through a piece but a cool thing to do, particularly with baroque music, is dance to it. If you are learning a Scarlatti piece, dancing is an absolute MUST to get the feel of the rhythm and that unique Scarlatti jauntiness. I usually dance to Bach pieces too and almost always discover something very interesting that completely changes the way I approach the piece.

Now I can't dance worth a darn, so this all goes on behind closed doors with the curtains drawn tight. A secret videotape would make a frightening blackmail weapon.

11. You need to listen to "Wachet auf ruft uns die Stimme"
arranged for brass quintet. Until you've heard that you don't even have a glimpse into his musical brilliance. ;-)
