I am a lawyer living in Houston, Texas. My high school debate coach was a yellow dog democrat and did a great job of installing these values in me. I have voted against Bush every opportunity presented to me including twice for Gov.

I have three children who are each very interested in politics. My son is the oldest will be a freshman next year in college. He is looking forward to voting for the first time.

I have posted on other internet boards but have gotten frustrated with dealing with idiotic conservatives. This board has been very refreshing and I have enjoyed it a great deal.

Thank you very much making me feel welcome at DU.

2. New since yesterday

Yes, I post on other progressive sites, but haven't been here before yesterday. I live in Florida now, I've lived in Texas, New York City, Munich, Philadelphia, upstate NY and many other places, I always vote democratic, I've never given to political causes until 2 years ago (and do now with a vengeance), I never went to a protest before I went to Bush's inauguration (but do now every chance I get), I read every scrap of every piece of news I can get (while also working, and in my free time), and I spent about a year in absolute darkness after bush was elected wondering where all the people were who felt like I do until I found sites like this.

And I usually don't write in such a run-on fashion. :)

Oh, and I also was supposed to be married in San Francisco last month, but we were shut out by the court one day prior to our scheduled date at the court house.

10. Welcome New DUers , and a little about myself

I turn 35 next month. I'm a mom , a wife and
a homemaker right now . I watch one of my sons
classmates afterschool and before being a homemaker
I'm a Trained Childcare Professional (pre-school teacher).

My hobbies beside politics include gardening ,
history , and Heavy Metal music .

I can ride a unicycle .

I dabble in acting and poetry (see sigline)

I live in a conservative suburb of
San Francisco California .

I'm on the front lines of opposition to
bush , with my yard signs and bumper stickers .

My goal is to "Carry On" the traditions passed down
to me from my parents who were hippies in the 60s.

Yes I lived in a commune house in the haight ashbury
district of SF right across the street from golden gate
park when I was a wee one .

13. Haight Ashbury - I'm jealous

Visited San Francisco for the first time last month. My first thoughts were how much like New York City (my favorite city on earth) it was, but with a very different charm. The biggest charm (at least right now) being all the liberal signs and bumper stickers. I had conversations with cab drivers, bus drivers, strangers on the street, and they all had the same passionate disregard for the bloodsuckers in the WH that I do. It was a wonderful weekend (even though we couldn't get married).

Now I live in a gated community in Florida (gated = heavily republican here, though I didn't know how much so until after we purchased the house). I have the ONLY democratic yard sign (Kerry for President) in my neighborhood and it has been taken down twice already in the past few weeks (though left on the lawn at least). I'm female, 41, used to be a professional classical musician (forsaken for economic reasons) but now work as an IT manager for a bloodsucking multinational corporation. I would find another job, but there don't seem to be any right now.

I was 2 - 3 when I lived in SF , really young .
But I had a lot of freedom to wander at that
age . Looking back it's a wonder I survived at all.

people who dissagree are starting to get pretty nasty about
my signs now that bush is being exposed for the criminal
that he is . Luckily all they have done is yell things
at me . They have left my car and yard alone .

I was actually interviewed for a local high school
newpaper recently about my yard and my opinion .
That was pretty cool .

Although I've been posting to message boards since before there was an Internet, this is the first time on a dedicated liberal/progressive site and I love it. So much more intelligent, funny and thought provoking without all the trolls to waste time and bandwidth on.
As you can see, I'm Canadian, from near Ottawa, Ontario, although originally from Toronto (Go Jays!).
I'm a Technologist, married, one son, live in the country.

Hi you all!

I guess I'm pretty much the weirdest case in this forum...I'm from Finland, 22 years old, currently studying biology in the city of Helsinki.
The reason for me to attend this forum is, well...Bush, or Yrjö Pensas like some of us here in Finland call him (that's like a straight-forward translation of his name). Me and most of my friends spend a lot of time talking about Bush's latest efforts in ruining equality, freedom and the future existence of all species...for instance.
It's such a relief to see that there are so many smart people in there to fight the neo-cons...keep up the good work!
During the coming election, we'll be hoping for the best here up in the north!;)
