When is enough, enough...
18 children deceased in Iraq after car bombing, dozens others deceased/wounded...
9 deceased over 100 wounded in Saudi Arabia...
705 deceased Americans...
Draft talk...
Elections polarizing the nation...

I can't watch or read the news any longer, even the progressive outlets, it's the same thing over and over again, death, doom and gloom. Consistently.

5. Oh, they are going to start paying attention soon enough...
...after they, and their kids start getting drafted.

It will most likely be too late by then though. And I think they are paying attention. Paying attention to fox, cnn, msnbc. You know, the liberal media. It is not an attention problem, it is a think for yourself and develop your own opinions problem.

3. Because of a nice and fluffy word
Collateral Damage.
Makes it sound like they're just damaging buildings and cars. And with all the republicans in the country getting off on it, it'll probably never be enough. Thank You Republicans for fucking up the world!! Oh, yeah, and you Democrats who didn't have the nuts not to buy into that shit.

6. Remember how "shell shock"...
...became "battle fatigue", then became "war neurosis", then became "post traumatic stress disorder"?

Doesn't even sound like the same thing, does it?

7. Nope...
We're a culture of making warm and fuzzy words for the horrible things that happen. I don't know if its to make ourselves feel better or to deny responsibility.

8. It's the media.
They use long sanitized sounding words like "collateral damage" to replace simple, yet directly visual words like "dead civilians".

It really is not our culture though. Germany in the 1930's perfected that little trick, as a means to sanitize what was really happening as they "liberated" Poland and France. Ooh. That "liberated" word sounds eerily familiar. Remember, Prescott Bush continued to deal with the Nazi Party until 1951, and the apple, or in this case apples, never fall very far from the tree.
