Poll question: Is it harder being part of a couple, or not being part of a couple.
Which lifestyle is more difficult?

1. People who say it's harder being part of a couple
Need to re-explore today's single's scene. It's fucking atrocious.

8. It's not the single's scene I find difficult
probably because I don't even know where the "single's scene" is, lol. Not even getting into emotional issues, one thing that is harder as a single is the simple fact that there is no one to help with the chores.

2. I suppose it all depends...
I'm currently non-coupled and couldn't be happier, but that doesn't make it easy! :silly: Still, it's easier in a way since I don't have to think much about how I'm affecting anyone else, etc. Though with the right other-half that isn't a chore, either...

Of course, on the flip side, going skirt-chasing every night is even more work! I'm a passive single and that's been pretty damned easy so far :D

9. Uncoupled hands down
Being single just sucked. Being happily married is so much better.

11. The Hardest State of Mind Is
When you think you are a couple, and the other person doesn't. Or only gives lip service, but when push comes to shove, you are out all the time, effort and sacrifice.

12. Depends on who you're coupled with
If the coupling is good, it's wonderful. If the coupling isn't so good, I'd say singlehood would be preferable.

Both have their benefits and their drawbacks.
Which is better is an individual perception. Best for me may not be best for you.

14. being coupled is more difficult for me
i am just very heavily invested in other peoples happiness...and being a part of a couple i often forget about my own..then i get cranky with my SO because she didnt notice i was unhappy...also monogamy is hard for me...

that being said there are moments in being a couple when i feel perfectly complete and joyful, that i have never felt as a single

15. They are both equally difficult in their own way.
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 03:23 PM by tjwash
I don't really think it is a fair question. For example, when you are married, certain things are expected from each person, that just comes with the territory when one is in a relationship. Also rough is the inevitable realization that what made "John" the single guy so attractive to "Mary", is also the same thing that makes "John" the married guy so damn annoying to "Mary".

Single life is rough, because you are alone. No one to lean on in tough times, no emotional support or needed advice when life's crossroads are approached, no one to stop you from making bad decisions.

So they both have their tough points.
