I just got banned from my favorite conservative forum. Ask me anything.

Yes, they are right-wing loonies... but I've started to like them. I also enjoyed the threads. Some of my best writing lately has been done on that forum.

I didn't think I was changeing any minds, but it was fun to yell at my screen every once in a while.

Freeconservatives.com isn't like Freerepublic.com. For one, they have a format that is far easier to understand and follow. Also, they don't automaticaly block Liberals as long as you aren't disruptive.

I was very careful not to be disruptive, but when the subject of Rush came up I made some snarkly comments and also implied that Ann Coulter is a man. I think that's what got me banned...but I haven't asked yet.

1. I use to visit boards like that

& I figured out it was doing me no good so I stopped. I run a forum on my website for gay liberals & one guy has finally found me, he is form another forum I use to go to, He is Gay & one of the biggest rightwing nuts I know! Talk about being disruptive! I don't ban him though because I like toying with him. His favorite person is Rush Limbaugh, needless to say I just posted in my forum the flash Rush is a nazi! Boy are we going to have fun over this one!

I suspect the thread that got me banned was that apparently Howard Stern interviewed a man who claimed to have slept with Rush.

My attitude was: "Who cares, does it make a difference? And, by the way, Ann Coulter is probably a man"

Then about an hour later I came back & was blocked. :(

I don't blame 'em. I'm sure if someone made cracks about Randi Rhodes the mods would do the same here. I'm just bummed b/c I kinda liked the forum. The conservative rants made me wince, but they followed a funny logic.

Does he not realize that they hate his guts? Does he not remember the mid eighties, when Rush would read off the names of gay men who had died of aids, and would play a laugh track following each and every name? That piece of human garbage is his favorite person?

My cubicle used to be right next to the shipping / receiving crew, and every day I would get the pleasure of listening to him blast that crap, in addition to many other racist and ethnic slurs. You have to remember this was the eighties, and Reagan was the President, a President who did not even MENTION aids, until 1985, five years after the first case, hit the United States, because, it was "only affecting homosexuals".

That was the entire mindset of the country at the time, I'm old, I remember. The Reagan / Bush years made people so at ease with their different bigotries, that this type of crap played over the radio waves was really no big deal. You would go out and hear comedians at night clubs telling jokes like "what do you call a faggot in a wheel chair? rolaids", to uproarious laughter. This is the type of conservative "values", that Reagan and Bush made the people comfortable with, and now appears that your friend is embracing.

Sorry I don't have a link for you that actually plays him saying that, but the fact of the matter is, when it was played on the radio, that type of dehumanizing of gay people was so commonplace, that people really did not get outraged at it, or, at the time think it was "cold".
