Do you believe that evil doers suffer the consequences of their actions.
Personally, every rotten thing I ever did has come back to haunt me. I now try to be the best person I can as I no longer want to pay the dues for bad deeds.

1. I don't think you have to be evil...
to suffer the consequences of your actions.

9. Yes -- in a statistical way
There are the odd people able to commit "perfect crimes" here and there, but behaving in an antisocial manner makes your life suck most of the time.

3. I don't know. I sometimes wonder if that isn't propaganda
sold to the working class to make them feel better about robber barons and those wealthy enough to escape justice.

4. Tough one.
Let's just say that karma isn't equally distributed.

6. You have to take the long view I suppose...
Just because they don't appear to be getting the karma we think they deserve in this life doesn't mean that they won't get it eventually.

7. Cheney's Karma
When I think of all the blood on Cheney's hands, all the misery of the dead soldiers, their families, the dead and wounded civilians, I don't want to be around when his Karma kicks in. I can't even think of anything bad enough. Even reincarnating as a wood tick for his next 40 lifetimes would be too benevolent.

8. I believe people do suffer the consequences; I think those who suffer them
in this life will be better off in the next; those who benefit from evil in this life will surely pay in the next.

Maybe the opiate of the masses, but it gets me through the day.

11. There's something about this "many lives accounting" that bothers me
So we see a human being (or animal) who has done nothing wrong suffer horribly. Are we to assume this is payback for evil commited in a past life and stop being sorry for them?

12. Is time linear?
Who's to say that we aren't suffering for actions that haven't yet taken place?

14. Yeah, I call it Karma
Unfortunately, the evil doer is not the only one who suffers the consequences of their actions; everyone suffers. That's what's so bad about making bad Karma.

16. It's comforting to think so
But I can think of as many instances when people who did wrong didn't suffer as when they did.
