What do you do when you're missing a couple layers of skin on your thumb??
I have a nasty blister crater on my thumb. I got it from whittling wood tonight. My thumb had too much pressure on the butt of the knife blade. The thing is that none of my suitemates in my dorm have a band-aid, and I'm currently keeping it wrapped with a sock. It's not bleeding, but I'm afraid it'll become infected. I'm washing it every half-hour.

Should I just go to sleep with the thing wrapped in a sock??? Serious question here.

1. I'd just wash it out with some peroxide or betadine

and air it to dry out...assuming it is drained.

If that doesn't work you can always dunk it in Canned Dinty Moore Scalloped Potatoes and Ham.

2. Neosporin's another good choice. Failing that, air is better for it
than a sock

5. You can get
something for blisters from the pharmacy. I can't remember what it is called but I use it and it works great. I play a LOT of tennis and have blisters occassionally and use it. I had a big one on my hand, which popped because I was playing tennis. I used that stuff and was able to finish the tournament. Its really good stuff. If you ask the pharmacist he/she should be able to tell you what it is. Sorry for not having the name. Something like NuSkin.

6. duoderm
it's like a thick tape that goes right over the sore (no pad); There's also this kind of bandage material that's made out of clear gel; it's awesome and makes the pain go away instantly.
