1. Never write anything! ALL authors die! Usually WITHIN thier lifetime!
Even Net authors.....auggggggg! But then again...death is cool. Only comes once per life, and if one gets to annata (ego-less-ness) then who gives a rat's ass? And once beyond the pain (which is merely sensation, and thus is nothing that is real) then the Great Adventure begins....who could wish for more.

And as my old long dead pappy from Missoura used to say,
"you're a long time dead, learn to live while you got it".

And besides, once we are all in hell, y'all join me for the 'revolt'. Fuck them demons, gonna give them a taste of their own damned (hahaha) forks. Pssst. I'll be the one in the corner with the crafty look on his face...y'all come...

2. I understand with Atkins, you can eat all the fat you want...
...but avoid ice...(BaDaBing!)

3. not bad.
Atkins is a great diet. It's the only thing that's worked for me. I've lost 40 pounds in two months and my bloodwork is awesome.

Picking on someone who's dead due to an accident and can't defend himself, especially someone who has helped as many people as Dr. Atkins did, is worthy of FR or CU, not us. :grr:

4. Sorry...
...my biggest failing is that I can't let good taste get in the way of a cheap joke. I, too have had some good success with Atkins...not quite at your level, but certainly some weight loss. Do you think the lack of carbs causes us to be a little bit crabby?

5. I meant that your joke was "not bad." :-)
Yes, I think it has made me slightly more irritable.

A very minor price to pay for lower bad cholesterol, higher good cholesterol, more energy, stable blood sugar for the first time in my life, losing weight, and feeling so much better physically that I have no words for it. :D

8. I think it was on CBS Sunday morning that I heard...
...somebody say that with the popularity of Atkins, and all these carb deprived people walking aroud feeling pissed off, Bush is really in trouble come November. There is a single packet of British made HobKnobs in the pantry (chocolate covered oatmeal type biscuits) in the event that it gets out of hand. Congratulations, by the way...the best weight loss is that which makes you feel better...looking better is secondary.

9. Thanks!
I've been on some kind of diet almost continuously since I was 10 years old, and this is the first one that works!!

12. The Absolutely Never-Ever Fail Diet.
I published this some years ago, but for some reason it never sold, maybe 'cos it was too complex.

It goes like this:

1 - Eat less.

2 - Exercise more.

It's guaranteed to cause weight loss.

Omigod, I'm only 62! Have I only got 30 years to live? Oh the humanity!

13. Incredibly simplistic mindset.
It didn't work for me and for a lot of other women I know. A variety of physical factors, such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, hereditary gall bladder problems, hormonal imbalances, endocrine system problems, and insulin resistance -- all of those can make your plan not work.

16. I have to agree with
southerngirlwriter...

that's simplistic. It will work for a lot of people, but not all. Worse is that a lot of people simply find it nearly impossible to "eat less".

Further, it seems that the simple calories in/calories out equation isn't true. Recent studies show that between people on low-carb diets and people on low-fat diets, people on low-carb diets lose more weight EVEN THOUGH THEY EAT THE SAME NUMBER OF CALORIES.

And I, like SGW, have had amazing results in my cholesterol and triglyceride levels. I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast most days, plenty of salads and a fair amount of meat and cheese. \

I suspect we don't know enough about the role of dietary cholesterol vis a vis serum cholesterol. There seems not to be a direct correlation. Also, I think Atkins may work well for SOME people.

I found it when my doctor mentioned Syndrome X, or metabolic syndrome. I researched it and found Atkins. I tried it, and had really great results. My doctor was shocked when he saw my blood tests. My cardiologist (yes, I had a heart problem) said he was surprised it was working so well, but couldn't deny that it was, and told me to keep it up.

We don't know all there is about diet and weight loss yet.
