I just had the YUMMIEST cake for my birthday!
Made by a friend of mine at work.

I don't know what she did to it but it was incredibly moist. Very chocolatey. And I think it might have had cherries in it.

But it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good.

And no, you can't have any cuz you didn't get me a gift.

9. You lucky dog.. My birthday was shitty (4/9)
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 09:43 AM by SoCalDem
My son sent flowers.. I have MANY cats, and they were salivating as I carried the gorgeous arrangement to the bathroom, so I could put it in the bathtub and close them out of there.. I gave them to my other son's fiancee..

That was my only "present", and I couldn't even keep it..

OOPs I forgot.. My best friend did get me a Tilia food baggie sealer thingie that I wanted..

I know it's not nice to complain, but it gets to me every so often, that my kids whom I raised, can't seem to think af ONE thing that "Mom might like" (small gestures are best), and my husband whom I have been married to for 34 years, can't seem to either....

I made myself a promise years ago, that I was never going to "change them", so I put it out of my mind, but every so often it gets to me....

I used to make a big fuss over Father's Day, and Dad's birthday.. Cake, parties, the whole deal...and then when MY brithday came around or Mother's day, they would make a "kamikaze run" to Target before it closed, or just say.."Where do you want to go to dinner"?

I finally just said (to my chagrine), if you cannot figure out WHEN my birthday is, and plan ahead...don't bother... and so they don't

11. Aw hon....
I'm SO sorry!

PM me your address. I'll send you something nice. I promise. :-)

If it helps at all, Paul forgot mine. Again. The only reason he even said it was because the friend who made the cake wrote me an e-mail and said it and he read it.

No one should have to be forgotten on their day. I never forget my mom or Paul or my dad. That's just wrong. Especially my mom.

15. That's the silly part.. I really don't want anything or need anything
Edited on Thu Apr-15-04 10:00 AM by SoCalDem
It's the thought..and planning that says it all...

I guess women are better at that.. I would always try to get hints and find just the perfect thing that they didn't even know they wanted/needed.. It's the lack of initiative.. They are just lazy..:)

It's like when someone says "Tell me what you want me to say".. If you have to TELL them,it's not important :)

14. Happy Belated Birthdya SoCalDem
don't know how I missed the post........

I've been married 29 years and the birthday present/celebration thing has been dropped by mutual agreement. It became too...uuummm...contrived for both of us.

We're boring people I guess but there isn't any false sincerety to deal with anyway.

:toast: to you

16. Your VERY OWN Personal B'Day Poem!

Another year over, a new one is here.
Your birthday has come! Best wishes, my dear!
I infer from your handle you're a Western Coast Dem.
So I wish you sunshine, oranges, and happiness, then!

I'll think of you, Darlin' today as I'm out
Enjoying our sunshine, here in AZ, no doubt.
I can't send you a present, or any small gift
Other than a smile, your soul to uplift.

But one thing is certain, Wherever you are,
ALL birthdays are special! I'll wish you a star!
Hoorah for SoCalDem! Your day is at hand.
(Now wasn't this better than anything planned?) :)
