Just some good news...someone mailed my daughter's wallet back
Last week my daughter's purse was stolen. She had her ss card in it :eyes:, her pin number..yikes, student ids pictures, etc. We canceled what we could, but I was very worried. A kind soul just sent it back anonymously. :bounce: The money's gone but the rest is more important.

I've had my wallet stolen two or three times. I've always gotten it back. One time with the money intact. Most folks are great people.

1. I leave my purse in restaurants constantly.
I've always gotten it back, everything intact. Sometimes the busboys rescue it, sometimes it's still hanging from the chair.

I once had my purse stolen from my cubicle at work. The next morning the contents (minus cash) showed up in a downtown mailbox.

2. You're right
Most people are great. Unfortunately, it only takes a few creeps to mess things up.

3. I dropped my wallet in a cab
I had my money and credit card because I was going to use them to pay (wasn't sure which till I saw the amount) but dropped the wallet out of my large tote. It was all intact at the cab company the next day. I wasn't sure how much to tip, so I left $20 for the driver (it would have cost me a lot more to get a new driver's license, ss card, bus pass, etc.)

4. I lost my wallet once in the parking lot at a grocery store
It's a small, upscale store near where I work (decent prices, excellent produce and bakery).

I figured out that I lost my wallet when I went to pay. When I told the cashier, she called the service desk and found it it had been turned in by one of the kids who collected carts. There was like $4 in the wallet, but it was all there, as was everything else. They wouldn't accept a reward -- wouldn't even tell me which kid it was. The manager at the desk told me "it's part of the job, and it's common courtesy."

I go there a lot now.
