downhill from there - I've given up watching his movies (along with Ahhnold's - though his are on ALL THE FREAKIN time now making it tough).

I believe that I read that he built his own church near Malibu.
Sounds liked he wants to be "in charge" with God.

I enjoyed alot of Mel's films, but ever since he came out as admitted he was a fundie (which is evident of a complete lack of common sense, IMO) I've lost a great deal of respect for him.

I'm 5'10", and he's supposedly 5'8", but I've seen him in person, and he's short, okay? Plus, he really has been disappointing in making his acting & directing career soooo personal.

8. It all started when his wife made him stop drinking....

He was out of control and he grasped on to his dad's extreme fundamentalist Catholicism to maintain his sobriety. However, obviously, he just traded one addiction for another.

That said, I still watch his movies. I appreciate acting regardless of the personal defects of the actors. Doesn't mean I agree with him, or want him as a role-model, I just don't consider the politics of the actors important in deciding which films to watch.
