I just signed up for a MoveOn bake sale!
I signed up for the West Allis/Wauwatosa (site TBA -- if they can't get a good site and end up cancelling, I'll show up at a different Milwaukee-area one) one in Wisconsin. So, if any of you wanna come, I think I'll be baking something. And my grandparents used to own a bakery, so it's in my blood and all.

Here's the link:

You can find one near you or schedule your own. Anyone else doing this?

1. I have a meeting with a mortgage company in the morning
(yes going to take the plunge) but in the afternoon I will take the list and make sure I buy something from one of the many around here.

2. I'd really like to do something like this
but I have a few problems. First of all, a lot of my friends who I would classify as liberal are kind of apathetic and wouldn't want to help me by putting in much time and effort.

Secondly, and more importantly, I'm afraid that if we set up a bake sale in the shopping center parking lot, some freeper (and my whole town is full of them) would drive his or her car at us, or go get some of their buddies and come kick the crap out of us. Basically, there are a lot of things I'd like to do, like putting a Kerry or DU bumper sticker on my car, but I'm afraid people would attack me. I have no faith in the capacity of some of these people for self restraint or rational thought.

You should be happy to live in an area where you can do this without fear.

4. There are plenty of freepers in my area, too, but
for the most part, yes, I can do this without fear.

Perhaps you can see if there's an existing sale in your area, so you can at least stop by and get a cookie?

3. The date (Saturday April 17)
(I have been told) coincides with our local Democratic club's fundraiser. My daughter and a couple of other people she met at school are having the bake sale at the fundraiser.

Just in case - that would be the White County (Arkansas) Democratic Club. They are hosting a bar-b-que at the Carmichael Center in Searcy, Arkansas Saturday, April 17. Canidates for local and state races will be on-site to give stump speeches. The dinner starts at 5:30 and speeches at 6:30. In addition, there will be a silent auction and the Move-On bake sale. Tickets are $10.
